Our Story

Rosemount Cottage Farm Meats is a ‘farm to fork’ business ran by Colin Capper. We produce quality local produce straight from their own farm whilst working alongside other local farmers and producers.

Our farm was first established in August 2019 – after which we decided to grow our farm. We expanded from sheep into cattle & pigs and worked eagerly towards opening our own farm shop.

Rosemount Cottage Farm Meats opened the doors to our customers for the first time in early March 2020.

We now have a young daughter, are working on progressing our farm, building our customer base and keeping our produce to the highest quality possible.

We pride ourselves on great customer relations, 5 star produce and extremely happy livestock.

Rare Breed Pigs & Pork

We work with both traditional and rare breed, Oxford Sandy and black pigs. Our rare breed oxford sandy and black pigs and Rosemount’s own traditional pigs are both reared sustainably in small batches of 3-5 on our own farm!

Both our traditional and rare breed pigs are fed on apples from our orchards along with ‘waste veg’ which we cut out ourselves from the fields of a local vegetable producer!

These pigs grow slowly to achieve a completely natural fat covering which ensures unbelievable flavour!

Our pigs also make use of our old apple orchards in Spring/Summer when the climate is a little better and the pigs can enjoy the great outdoors!

Grass Fed Dexter & Heritage Breed Cattle and Beef

We primarily work with Dexters, which we grass-finish on our own farm. The Dexter breed is an old traditional native Irish breed, the smallest breed of cattle in Europe.

The breeds ability to mature naturally through grass feeding enables them to develop the delicious marbling through their meat with no need to grain feed.

The Dexter beef we produce is exclusively sourced from our own herd at Rosemount Cottage Farm or through other local producers of the pedigree Dexter breed – supporting hard working farming families!

We also occasionally work with Hereford, Angus and other native breeds of cattle.

Grass Fed Lamb & Mutton

The grass fed lamb and mutton we produce is pasture fed, reared on our own farm and tastes delicious!  We work with numerous different breeds.

Our lamb isn’t ‘pushed’ – it is slower grown which allows the natural fats to form and this is where the delicious flavour is found from our many lamb cuts we have available.

Goat Meat

We work alongside another local farmer who has a herd of grass fed goats.  This ensures premium quality goat meat to sell to the discerning foodie.  Our goat meat is a healthier alternative to other red meats due to its low fat content with it being naturally lean.
